Wendy McClellan served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney's Office office for over 20 years. She began her legal career in 1998 as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney appointed to serve the citizens of Bexar County by the Bexar County District Attorney. She prosecuted cases in the Family Violence unit, White Collar Crime unit, Misdemeanor and Felony Criminal Trial Divisions. She was in a supervisory position for the last 14 years of her service and also served as the project manager on many major projects for the District Attorney’s Office. During her time in the office she represented the State of Texas in thousands of criminal cases on offenses ranging from misdemeanors to capital murders.
Wendy retired as a prosecutor after serving as the Division Chief of the Grand Jury and Intake Division of the Criminal District Attorney’s Office for Bexar County. As the Division Chief, Wendy was responsible for overseeing all grand jury presentments and investigations. Wendy also supervised the attorneys that represented the State of Texas in trials to determine competency and mental states of individuals charged with a crime or who were a danger to themselves or others. Additionally, Wendy oversaw a team of Assistant District Attorneys who prosecuted cases in Bexar County Justice of the Peace Courts.
Wendy supervised the Mental Health section of the District Attorney’s Office that handled probable case hearings and trials pursuant to an emergency or voluntary detention and voluntary and involuntary commitments. She oversaw the staff that handled guardianship proceedings in the Probate Courts and hearings relating to Adult Protective Services.
Wendy McClellan received her B.A. from Texas Tech University and J.D. degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law. She is licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Texas.
